PITTSBURGH DYNAMO YOUTH SOCCER

PITTSBURGH DYNAMO YOUTH SOCCER

Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer is pleased to sponsor a series of recreational soccer clinics for women over 30 who would like to learn how to play soccer or improve their soccer skills. By sponsoring these clinics, Dynamo hopes to encourage more women to get involved in youth soccer as coaches and referees, and even just kicking a ball around with their kids. If you over over 30 and have little or no adult soccer experience, then Dynamoms may be for you! Absolute beginners are welcome. And you don't actually have to be a mom. Come learn how to play soccer safely, get some exercise, and have fun! Since Fall 2013, Dynamoms has run fall and spring outdoor clinics and winter indoor clinics.

Dynamoms was featured in a July 2021,  CMU Piper article, a  May 21, 2014 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article and in a Fall 2014 Shady Ave magazine article. We also are the inspiration for a women's recreational soccer club in the steamy romance novel Beautiful Game  written by one of our members!

Dynamoms clinics: Dynamoms clinics are taught by experienced soccer coaches. These 90-minute sessions are designed to help participants learn and practice basic soccer skills and rules of play. We also do cardio exercises and stretching to promote fitness. We spend the first half of each clinic on skills development. We play scrimmages during the second half of each clinic to practice skills and rules of play in real game scenarios. We start with the basics every season, so even if you have never played soccer, we encourage you to sign up!

What to wear and bring: Dynamoms participants should wear shin guards with soccer socks, athletic shoes or soccer cleats (outdoors only), and comfortable clothes. Any comfortable athletic shoes will do, but many of our members prefer turf cleats (for example, the Adidas Mundial Team Turf Soccer Cleat is available from online retailers and is very popular).  Please do not wear any jewelry. Bring a water bottle and a size 5 soccer ball. We play our winter indoor season on a wooden gym floor, so wear gym shoes, running shoes, or soccer shoes designed for indoor surfaces (no cleats).

Dynamoms is a space that centers women. We welcome non-binary people who are comfortable in such environments.

Dynamoms Pickup Soccer

We love playing soccer, even when its snowing (yes we have been known to shovel the field)! If you would like to join us for some friendly pick-up soccer at Schenley Oval (usually on Monday or Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons), please email [email protected] and ask to be added to our pickup email list or check out our calendar of upcoming Dynamoms games and events. Come out to Schenley Oval, grab a pinnie, and jump right in. We don't keep score and we do our best to keep everyone injury free.

Spring 2023 Dynamoms clinic registration is open!

Our Spring 2023 season will run Saturdays 2-3:30pm on the  Schenley Oval turf from April 15 through June 10 (skipping April 29 due to soccer camp)! We will have 90-minute educational clinics led by coaches in which we will first warm up and spend time on skills exercises and then scrimmage. We do not offer partial registrations, but we understand that you may have to skip some sessions.  We will play in light rain but will cancel if there is heavy rain or lightning.

To register, login to your account (or create a new account) and click the registration button - https://www.pghdynamo.org/Default.aspx?tabid=927227. The registration fee is $100. Scholarships are available to support participation by those with financial need - please email us for details.

Dynamoms adult women soccer camp:  April 27-30, 2023

Soccer Camp 5.0: Spring Kick Off

6 p.m., Thursday, April 27 to 12 noon, Sunday, April 30, 2023

Register by April 15, 2023

This spring, we are heading back to gorgeous Camp Soles, a family-run camp in Rockwood, PA (near Seven Springs/Somerset) approximately 75 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.

Arrive Thursday evening for appetizers and chilling and get settled in. Friday and Saturday, we play during the day and then relax around the fire after sundown (based on previous experience, fireside dance parties are highly likely).

Sunday, we have breakfast (with yummy pastries from Le Beau Gateau baked by Erika, Dynamoms player and chef extraordinaire!) and more play and head home around noon. Our hosts also provide optional camp activities including archery, pickleball, kayaking and a climbing wall/ropes course. We stay in wooden cabins that have heat, electricity, bunk beds and indoor showers/bathrooms either in the cabin or a few steps away. As of this writing, our group has the camp to ourselves once again, though that may change. As always, COVID safety is a priority and all attendees must be vaccinated.

Amenities include a large, beautiful field, an historic lodge/mess hall. a gorgeous lake, hiking trails, paddleboards and a covered outdoor area with a projector screen perfect for watching classic women’s soccer games. Check out the photos from previous camp sessions. Please invite non-footy friends who would enjoy sitting by the lake during the day and then hanging around the fire at night. The cost is $350 including all meals, coaching fees and accommodations and camp t-shirts. Spread the word! We need 27 people to break even. See you on the pitch!

This is a space that centers women. We welcome non-binary people who are comfortable in such environments.

Create or login to your Dynamo account and register for camp April 15, 2023.
