Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer is pleased to sponsor a series of recreational soccer clinics for women over 30 who would like to learn how to play soccer or improve their soccer skills. By sponsoring these clinics, Dynamo hopes to encourage more women to get involved in youth soccer as coaches and referees, and even just kicking a ball around with their kids. If you over over 30 and have little or no adult soccer experience, then Dynamoms may be for you! Absolute beginners are welcome. And you don't actually have to be a mom. Come learn how to play soccer safely, get some exercise, and have fun! Since Fall 2013, Dynamoms has run fall and spring outdoor clinics and winter indoor clinics.

Dynamoms was featured in a May 21, 2014 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article and in a Fall 2014 Shady Ave magazine article.

Dynamoms clinics are taught by experienced soccer coaches. These 90-minute sessions are designed to help participants learn and practice basic soccer skills and rules of play. We also do cardio exercises and stretching to promote fitness. We spend the first half of each clinic on skills development. We play scrimmages during the second half of each clinic to practice skills and rules of play in real game scenarios. We start with the basics every season, so even if you have never played soccer, we encourage you to sign up!

Dynamoms participants should wear shin guards with soccer socks, athletic shoes or soccer cleats (outdoors only), and comfortable clothes. Please do not wear any jewelry. Bring a water bottle and a size 5 soccer ball. We play our winter indoor season on a wooden gym floor, so wear gym shoes, running shoes, or soccer shoes designed for indoor surfaces (no cleats).

Dynamoms Pickup Soccer

We love playing soccer, even when it is snowing and we all have to wear masks and stay 6 feet apart due to COVID. If you would like to join us for some friendly pick-up soccer at Schenley Oval (usually on Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons), please email [email protected] and ask to be added to our pickup email list.

Winter 2020-21 Season - Postponed!

Our Winter 2020-21 season will be a little different than usual, as we will be playing outdoors in potentially cold weather and trying to maintain 6-foot distance between players. We will have 1-hour sessions led by coaches in which we will scrimmage the whole time so there is no standing around and getting cold. There will be more emphasis on field positions and team skills and less emphasis on basic soccer skills. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to warm up and stretch on their own before the scrimmage. We are scheduling 8 sessions. In the event of snow or below freezing temperatures we will cancel a session and try to reschedule after the last session. If it goes well and there is sufficient interest we will start a late winter/early spring season in February 2021.

We had originally played to hold sessions on Saturdays, 1-2 pm November 21, 2020 through January 23, 2021 with the November 28 and December 26 sessions as pickup games only (no coaching) if there are enough people who want to play on those days (these are not counted towards our 8 sessions). However, due to a combination of weather and COVID-19 isues we are postponing the first session until a date to be determined, probably some time in the spring. We will still plan to have 8 sessions whenever we start. All sessions will be on the Schenley Oval turf field. We do not offer partial registrations, but we understand that you may have to skip some sessions.

To register, login to your account (or create and account) and click the registration button. The registration fee is $100 (including a $3 service fee). We are not ordering new shirts, socks, or headbands this season, but we do have some shirts still available so email [email protected] if you would like to purchase a shirt.

Fall 2020 Season (registration is now closed)

We will run a series of 10 Dynamoms educational clinics on Saturdays12:30-2 pm at Schenley Oval on the turf field. Fall 2020 clinics will run August 29 -October 31. So that we can play safely this season we will be limiting registration to 25 players and will plan for 5-on-5 scrimmages. We will keep everyone 6+feet apart throughout each session. We won't be touching the balls with our hands and we will emphasize skills such as passing where wecan stay further apart.

The registration fee is $80 for the series of 10 soccer clinics. Dynamoms shirts are available for an additional $15 or $20 for a shirt with your name on the back. This season, everyone who registers by August 25 will receive a fun soccer headband. If interest and weather permit, we will add some optional pickup sessions on Sundays and/or weekday evenings for those who are interested in more soccer.
