Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer is pleased to sponsor a series of recreational soccer clinics, camps, and pickup games for women over 30 who would like to learn how to play soccer or improve
their soccer skills. We welcome nonbinary athletes who are comfortable in that environment. Dynamo hopes to encourage more women to get involved in youth soccer as coaches and referees, and even just kicking a ball around with their kids.
If you over over 30 and have little or no adult soccer experience, then Dynamoms Football Club (DFC) may be for you! Absolute beginners are welcome. And you don't actually have to be a mom. Come learn how to play
soccer safely, get some exercise, and have fun! Since Fall 2013, Dynamoms has run fall and spring outdoor clinics and (sometimes) winter indoor clinics.
Dynamoms was featured in a July 2021, CMU Piper article, a May 21, 2014 Pittsburgh
Tribune-Review article and in a Fall 2014 Shady Ave magazine article. We also are the inspiration for a women's recreational soccer club in the steamy romance novel Beautiful Game written by one of our members! Read more about our club history.
Dynamoms Football Club (DFC) is an organization that centers on women aged 30+ who would like to learn how to play soccer or improve their soccer skills. We welcome nonbinary people who are comfortable in that environment.

DFC Fall 2024 Clinics
Fall clinics start Saturday September 7
Four female coaches will lead sessions covering the basics of soccer, game strategy and more. Each clinic will end with a coached scrimmage to practice what we learn. Beginners are welcome!
Registration is $100, and the 9 sessions are at the Schenley Oval turf field:
Saturday 4:00 - 5:30 pm September 7 - September 21; October 5 - November 9
Participants should wear shin guards with soccer socks, athletic shoes or soccer cleats, and comfortable clothes. Any comfortable athletic shoes will do, but many of our members prefer turf cleats--no metal spikes. Please do not wear any jewelry. Bring water and a size 5 soccer ball.
DFC Pickup Soccer
We love playing soccer, even when its snowing (yes we have been known to shovel the field)! We don't keep score, we have lots of fun, and we do our best to keep everyone injury free. If you are over 30 and would like to join us for some friendly pick-up soccer at Schenley Oval (usually on Monday or Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons), please complete our online form to request to be added to our email list. You can also check out our calendar of upcoming DFC games and events. If you show up at one of our games without having previously signed up we will ask you to fill out the form on your phone before you play. We periodically ask pickup participants for voluntary contributions to pay for field permits.
DFC guidelines
- DFC is for women aged 30+. We also welcome non-binary athletes comfortable in that environment.
- DFC is for beginners and will prioritize the safety of all players and sharing the ball with everyone over scoring.
- There is no slide-tackling or aggressive play allowed; players should avoid direct contact with others and defend by containing rather than tackling the ball. You may be asked to leave the game if you play in a manner that endangers others.
Soccer Camp 8.0
6 p.m., Thursday, Sept 26 to 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept 29, 2024
REGISTER BY Sept 15, 2024
DFC footy fun awaits with spring soccer sleepaway camp for grownups! We head back to gorgeous Camp Soles, a family-run camp in Rockwood, PA (near Seven Springs/Somerset) approximately 75 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.
Arrive Thursday evening for appetizers and chilling and get settled in. Friday and Saturday, we play during the day and then relax around the fire after sundown (based on previous experience, fireside dance parties are highly likely, as are euchre tournaments for those who play). Sunday, we have breakfast and more play and head home by 1 p.m. after helping ourselves to leftovers for lunch.
Our hosts also provide optional camp activities including archery, pickleball, kayaking and a climbing wall/ropes course. We stay in wooden cabins that have heat, electricity, bunk beds and indoor showers/bathrooms either in the cabin or a few steps away. As of this writing, our group has the camp to ourselves once again, though that may change. As always, COVID safety is a priority and we ask all attendees to test the day you leave for camp.
Amenities include a large, beautiful field, an historic lodge/mess hall, a gorgeous lake, hiking trails, paddleboards and canoes, and a covered outdoor area. If technology cooperates, we will have a projector and screen perfect for DFC entertainment. Check out the photos from previous camp sessions. We may also have our educational and fun Talk/Learn session featuring the wisdom and wit of our campers (info to follow after you register). Please invite non-footy friends who would enjoy sitting by the lake during the day and then hanging around the fire at night. DFC soccer camp centers women but welcomes nonbinary athletes who are comfortable with that environment.
The cost is $360 including all meals, coaching fees and accommodations. Spread the word! We need 28 people to break even. If we exceed that break even point, we may add yoga, swag, etc.
Cancellation policy:
If you need to cancel for any reason, we can refund $300 if your cancellation is made by 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept 18. Cancellations for any reason made after 5 p.m. on Sept 18 may be granted a refund of $200 of the registration fee. We know that life is complicated and that things come up, but we are still charged camp fees. Thanks for understanding.
See you on the pitch!
Create or login to your Dynamo account and register for camp by Sept 15, 2024.
DFC Statement of Support for Jenni Hermoso and the Spanish Women’s Soccer Team
The Dynamoms Football Club (DFC) and its members stand behind Jenni Hermoso and the members of Selección Española de Fútbol Femenina. We celebrate their incredible achievement in winning the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
At the same time, we are outraged by the behavior of Spanish football federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales. His actions tainted and overshadowed the Spanish Women’s National Team’s victory. We condemn his behavior as well as the inaction of anyone in power who fails to hold him accountable.
Every athlete deserves a safe environment free from offensive, abusive, or hostile behavior from anyone and most especially from those in positions of power. We recognize the professionalism of the Spanish women’s national team and decry those who treated its players as anything but.
From our recreational field in Pittsburgh, we join the chorus of the global soccer community demanding an end to abuse in the women’s game. Our team philosophy emphasizes respect for all coaches, players, and referees and good sporting behavior with an eye towards creating lifelong lovers of the game of soccer.
Anything less is inconsistent with our DFC values and the community we represent.
We congratulate Jenni, her teammates, and the extraordinary athletes around the world elevating the beautiful game. We vow to protect and support them. #ContigoJenni.
Signed:
The members of the Dynamoms Football Club
