Recreation League Commissioners

The Recreation League Commissioners serve on the board of directors. The Rec Commission ensures a smooth operating Recreation League in the Fall and Spring seasons by organizing the registration, age level commissioners and team assignments. They assist coaches and families to understand and particpate in Dynamo for the enjoyment of all. They organize and lead the Agel Level Commissioners to ensure coaches have their clearances, teams have their uniforms and equipment, and the League has game and practice schedules. Additionally they solve issues that arise throughout the season.

Age Level Commissioner

Age Level Commissioners are in charge of age-levels within the Recreation League, for instance the Recreation U7 teams. They help to assign players to teams, recruit coaches, and recruit volunteers. They serve as point of contact for the coaches.

Head Coach

A Head Coach (with the help of assistant coaches) is responsible for coaching duties associated with running a youth soccer team. These include coaching of players during practice sessions (recreation teams have one practice per week) and at games consistent with the Dynamo Philosophy and in accordance with PA West Soccer Association rules and regulations. Recreation League coaches are encouraged to take the Youth Modules. All Head Coaches that appear on the team roster are required to have Act 33/34 clearances.

Assistant Coach

An Assistant Coach is responsible to assist the Head Coach on all aspects of coaching a team. Typical duties include assistance at practice sessions and on the sideline during the games. Other duites may include maintenance of team equipment (balls, pumps, cones, pinneys, first aid kits, other). Assistant Coaches step in and take on the head coaching duties if the Head Coach is unavailable. Recreation League assistant coaches are encouraged to take the Youth Modules. All Assistant Coaches that appear on the team roster are required to have Act 33/34 clearances.

League Equipment Manager

The League Equipment Manager will be responsible for all Dynamo recreational league equipment stored at the Schenley Oval as well as the equipment distributed to each Dynamo recreational league coach. The League Equipment Manager will work with the Recreational League Commissioners to purchase equipment, to distribute equipment at the start of each season, to collect equipment at the end of each season, and to re-use any equipment in good condition in a subsequent season.

Field Set-Up

Field Set-Up
Field Set-Up responsibilities are broadly defined as field layout (line painting and maintenance), field equipment management, andespecially for the Recreation League parents: setting up and breaking down cones and pop-up goals for the small sided games. One or more persons from the various teams agree to take a lead role to coordinate the activities. Specific responsibilities may include layout of fields and painting of lines at the onset of each playing season - and maintenance of the lines over the course of a season; purchase and storage of paint; inventory, inspection and management of equipment at start of all seasons and throughout playing seasons (goals, nets, net clips, sand bags, flags, etc); replacement or maintainance of equipment at start of season and throughout season as needed.

Team Parent

Team Parents organize lines of communication for the coaches, players and families. Team Parents help with the schedule of snack duties for games, and help to ensure that there are enough field setup volunteers for games.

People who volunteer as Team Parent may be called upon to assist the Dynamo President, League Commissioners, or Coaches on a variety of activities associated with a club or team event. Some events happen at the beginning or end of every season, others happen once annually and others are ad hoc. For Recreation, typical events are the pizza party, handing out trophies or other souvenirs, and picture day. Because each event is different, responsibilities can vary from communication to families about the event, scheduling, coordination with other agencies (such as City Parks), purchasing of food - basically doing whatever is necessary to carry out the event. Typically a meeting (or email coordination) is organized prior to the event to talk through the event specifics and assign responsibilities.

Parent Referee--U5 ONLY

Parent referees are on the field during the U5 games to keep the games safe, moving, and fun. While the Dynamo paid referees are scheduled to be at the Rec games there are times when a game might not have a referee. We ask in these circumstances that one or two parents on each team be ready to fill in during their child's game. Here is a list of the rules.

Field Monitors

Field Monitors are present at matches to help enforce Dynamo's philosophy and expectations regarding match play. They also ensure that Dynamo players, volunteers, and spectators observe Schenley Oval rules banning dogs, food, and liquids other than water from the Schenley Oval turf.
