Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer is pleased to sponsor a series of recreational soccer clinics for women over 30 who would like to learn how to play soccer or improve their soccer skills. By sponsoring these clinics, Dynamo hopes to encourage more women to get involved in youth soccer as coaches and referees, and even just kicking a ball around with their kids. If you over over 30 and have little or no adult soccer experience, then Dynamoms may be for you! Absolute beginners are welcome. And you don't actually have to be a mom. Come learn how to play soccer safely, get some exercise, and have fun! Since Fall 2013, Dynamoms has run fall and spring outdoor clinics and wintern indoor clinics.

Dynamoms was featured in a May 21, 2014 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article and in a Fall 2014 Shady Ave magazine article.

Unfortunately, we have had to close registration and cancel the spring 2020 Dynamoms season

Registration is now open for Spring 2020 Dynamoms

We will run a series of 8 Dynamoms educational clinics on Saturdays 1-2:30 pm at Schenley Oval. Spring 2020 clinics will run April 18 - June 6. We usally end our season with a food and beverage outing following our last session... so mark your calendar!

Dynamoms clinics are taught by experienced soccer coaches. These 90-minute sessions are designed to help participants learn and practice basic soccer skills and rules of play. We also do cardio exercises and stretching to promote fitness. We spend the first half of each clinic on skills development. We play scrimmages during the second half of each clinic to practice skills and rules of play in real game scenarios. We start with the basics every season, so even if you have never played soccer, we encourage you to sign up!

Skill development:

  • Ball Control
  • Dribbling
  • Passing, stationary
  • Passing, in movement
  • Striking
  • Goal-keeping
  • Defensive strategy
  • Offensive strategy

Dynamoms participants should wear shin guards with soccer socks, athletic shoes or soccer cleats (outdoors only), and comfortable clothes. Please do not wear any jewelry. Bring a water bottle and a size 5 soccer ball. We play our winter indoor season on a wooden gym floor, so wear gym shoes, running shoes, or soccer shoes designed for indoor surfaces (no cleats).

The registration fee is $80 for the series of 8 soccer clinics. Dynamoms shirts are available for an additional $15 or $20 for a shirt with your name on the back. This season, everyone who registers by April 10 will receive a fun soccer headband.

You must register for the entire series. Don't worry if you will have to miss some sessions... we know that Dynamoms are busy people!

Weather cancellations: We try to play rain (or snow) or shine. For outdoor sessions, we have to cancel in the event of lightning or heavy rain. For indoor sessions, if the roads are bad or the pubic schools have closed their buildings we will cancel. We will send email to registered participants in the event we have to cancel. If possible, we'll offer a makeup session, depending on gym or field availability and availability of coaches.

Why should your Dynamo-playing kids have all the fun? Learn some soccer moves that will impress your kids! (Or your friends' kids, nieces, nephews, whatever.... you don't have to have kids of your own to join us! YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MOM TO BE A DYNAMOM!
